Synopsis: Three murders. Three innocent victims. What secrets did they share with their killer?

A bottle of bubble bath and colourful, plastic boats were scattered in small puddles on the floor. In the bathtub lay Linda Upton, fully-clothed, her lips a shade of blue, and her bloodshot eyes wide open.

When a young mother is found drowned in the bath, clutching a receipt saying ‘all debts paid’, Detective Robyn Carter knows it’s just the beginning of a harrowing case. She recognises the signs of a serial killer, and when a second victim with a receipt is found, her worst fears are confirmed.

With the local press whipping the public into a frenzy, Robyn is under pressure to solve the crime yesterday. But her team can’t find a link between the two bodies, and the cracks are starting to show.

Just when her leads have dried up, Robyn discovers an unsettling clue she thinks could unlock the case. But as she chases across the plush carpets and manicured lawns of the wealthy elite, honing in on the killer’s shocking motive, one of her own is put in terrible danger.

The press call him The Leopard for his stealth, speed and brutality. Can Robyn stop the most twisted killer of her career before it’s too late?

Kat's Rating: 5/5

Kat's Review: Carol is back with her second in this series featuring Detective Robyn Carter. I loved the first book and was thrilled to be back with Robyn and the team once again. It seems that Robyn has her work cut out for her as she is asked by a lady she barely knows to check the circumstances of a friends death. That victim happened to be a case that was worked on by her colleague Shearer. The rivalry and resentment between them is clear but strangely I didn't dislike him! After realising Shearer has no intentions of letting her meddle in a case of his she is given a new case involving the murder of Linda Upton who is found dead clutching a receipt saying 'All Debts Paid'.

When the team find a second body with the same note Robyn knows that they are after a serial killer. The wonderful thing about Carol's books is that you really get a feel for how tenacious Robyn and her team are. They chase down all the leads and are determined to find the person responsible. What is so great about this series is that not only Robyn, but the whole team are tenacious to the end.The story is well paced and I raced along not realising I was three quarters of the way through until I realised I was sitting in complete darkness because I was so absorbed.

I was so excited to read the first in this series and change of genre for Carol Wyer. I was even more pleased when I got my hands on an early copy of book 2. I was just as thrilled and loved this one too. This was definitely a smart move for Carol changing genres and if you didn't know it you would assume this is where she started! I loved the fact that we got to see a little more of the 'real' Robyn in this book and have a feeling that each book will just get better and strengthen an already amazing series. Carol Wyer has managed to create a solid police procedural which had me engaged from page 1. Definitely an author you need to check out, and a series you need to get started with.
