Kat's Rating: 3.5/5

Kat's Review: This story is based around Jessie Golden's family following her murder. Lori Golden her elder sister is the main focus and character throughout this story. It's apparent early on that this family are holding secrets but I found that all you seemed to see were the flaws and because of that I didn't feel too much empathy towards any of them. Although I didn't necessarily warm to the characters the story has all the right ingredients for a thriller of this sort and there are certainly a lot of threads in the early stages. It seems there are a number of potential suspects and nobody appears to escape untouched.

The book certainly has a decent pace and I found myself caught up in all of it however for me I spotted the culprit early on which maybe disappointed me a little That aside, I was totally absorbed with the story and Maggie James has an easy to read writing style which flows well. Its clear she has the talent needed for this specific genre and I am looking forward to reading her other books. I hope that I connect more with characters in her other books as that made me feel a little disconnected from this current release, however this was still a very enjoyable read.
